Charitable ActivitiesLimerick Charity Race – Irish Injured Jockeys

After a period of intense training and preparation in April 2015 Sheikh Fahad rode in his first charity race at Limerick Racecourse in aid of Irish Injured Jockeys.

The raceday at Limerick celebrated the achievements of Tim and Martin Molony, champion jump jockeys in Britain and Ireland in the 1940s and 50s. Martin Molony is the father of Qatar Racing’s Irish Representative, Peter Molony, who together with fellow Qatar Racing team member, Kevin Darley, joined Sheikh Fahad in the charity race.

Sheikh Fahad, riding one of Qatar Racing’s horses, Captain Morley, finished a honourable fifth of 13. Afterwards, Sheikh Fahad said: “I loved every second of it and can’t wait to do it again. It was a brilliant feeling.”

The raceday raised over €150,000 for the Irish Injured Jockeys’ fund. The total included a generous donation from JP McManus.
