Launched in 2016, the Corinthian Challenge is a fund raising initiative for the Irish Injured Jockeys’ Fund. It is a series of three races staged at the leading Irish racecourses, Naas, the Curragh and Leopardstown. Sheikh Fahad rode in all three races and in its inaugural year the event raised over €100,000.
The Corinthian Challenges provides twelve riders with the opportunity to ride at some of the most famous racecourses in Ireland. The race at the Curragh is held over the Derby course and distance during Irish Oaks weekend and the race at Leopardstown is run over the same trip as the Irish Champion Stakes.
Sheikh Fahad competed in each of the races, improving on his eventual placing with each run, culminating in a 14 length success at Leopardstown in the final leg riding the Gordon Elliot trained horse, Laiback.
